im just leaving a comment here because you're a pretty cool guy lorkas you anti american..eh, lithuanian cool guy...you're cool

Thanks Miro, I appreciate it.

How do Lithuanians feel about Russians and vice-versa? I hear they dislike each other, the Lithuanians because they were under Russian control for centuries and the Russians because they feel Lithuania is nothing more than a satellite state..is this true? Or just extremely exaggerated?

BTW I was slightly intoxicated, but you're still a cool guy.

Excellent question!

Yes, we hate the russians. I suppose we still blame every citizen for the Soviet Union's invasion. Though it wasn't their fault, it was their leaders' fault. And the russians? Well they don't care about Lithuania, but if you refer to Russia as a country then yes it still wants to keep Eastern Europe under control. And it's working pretty well. A lot of our politicians are still pro-russian. Which makes us common folk quite angry considering the fact our country was occupied for 50 years. So, it isn't exaggerated. We hate Russia. It still kinda owns us, since we're dependent of their oil and gas and other things.

I could write a loooong reply but that should be enough.

Yeah, I heard in Ukraine the politicians agreed to something pro-russian and the public threw stuff at them in a sign of protest. I guess all or most CIS countries feel the same towards the Russians. And how do the people feel towards the Soviet era? I guess people would hate it as well, or some would say those were the better times? I don't know.

Well, there are people (usually old) that say "It was better with the russians". And in a way it was. There were some aspects of the Soviet Union that really were superior to the capitalistic world. But the minuses outweigh it.

People don't really hate the era, they're quite indifferent. Like "Oh well, it wasn't that bad."

When I grow up I wanna' be just like you.

:3

Why does that sound familiar?

Yeah, I guess so. I imagine the Russians themselves would feel prouder about the Soviet era. And how are things nowadays in Lith? I hear that hings in all over eastern europe have been going well..I think.

Yeah it's been fine you know. Can't say the crisis hasn't affected us, it really did stir some things up. But other than that we're good. What's it like in Brazil?

Eh, things are cool here. Crime and poverty is pretty ugly here, the police can either be nice to you or complete assholes. It's not so bad as most parts of the world, but it still sucks. We've been doing well recently though, the crisis was actually pretty good for us since we were barely affected by it and our national industry was stimulated, so there's a lot of foreign investments. The problem is, our higher education system can't form enough specialized labor, so we're lacking in most departments, and a lot of people from the outside are coming to work here.

It's a nice place here, and despite all our problems, I still love my country in a nationalist way I suppose.

Well I'm glad you guys got stuff solved out. I'll write a longer reply.

Alright.

At least you guys are getting your economy boosted up from potential foreign workers. In Lithuania it's the complete opposite. Talented people with diplomas travel to England/Ireland/Spain with dreams of becoming succesful. Though these are frivolous dreams to say the last, since most potential doctors and lawyers end up washing dishes for english men. Also this Winter was cold as hell. We had days with -20C.

Yeah, it's pretty much the same here, even with our economic progress, Brazilians still try to find a job in the US or in Europe so they leave. Maybe I'd study abroad for my PhD or something, but I wouldn't leave for work, unless the situation was bad enough.

Anyways, yeah, I heard that a lot of people from Eastern Europe all leave for the EU's core countries in hopes of living a better life, its sad that, like you said, very few actually find their way.

Yeah, and the worst part is that they don't get any respect. They're treated in England the same way any other immigrant would. But that's what we are, immigrants with no job experiences.

luv you
